Walking along the beach in Costa Rica at Playa Domenical I saw all these trees painted red, white and blue.
I discovered they were the same colors as Costa Rica’s flag.
Apparently each color in the flag represents an important Costa Rican ideal. Blue represents optimism and opportunity. White symbolizes happiness and peace.
Red expresses the warmth of the Costa Rican people and the blood spilled during their fight for freedom from Spanish sovereignty .
Later we passed a fishing boat with the same patriotic colors.
If my walk along the beach is any indication Costa Ricans love their country.
