Did the Ancient Greeks Wear Underwear?

Did the ancient Greeks wear underwear?  That’s a question I’ve been asked several times by different school groups while I’m giving them tours of the Olympus exhibit at the Winnipeg Art Gallery. One of the activities we do with the children is invite them to dress up in a peplos or chiton, items of clothing worn by the Ancient Greeks. This is inevitably when the students ask me the underwear question.  I’ve done some research and most sources agree that the Greeks did not wear underwear.
