Mercury- Finding Greek and Roman Gods in Winnipeg

In honor of the new Olympus exhibit at the Winnipeg Art Gallery I’m going to look for references to Greek and Roman gods right here in the city where I live.

The Golden Boy atop the Manitoba Legislature Building was created in France by sculptor Georges Gardet and modeled after a 16th-century sculpture of the Roman god Mercury. Mercury’s Greek counterpart is Hermes.

Always so interesting. Never thought of the Golden Boy as Mercury, but now it seems so obvious.
