The Detroit Tigers- In the Pink

Even the Tigers’ familiar logo had been changed from its usual orange and blue to pink. pink out the park

The Tigers were sponsoring an event called Pink Out the Park in cooperation with  The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute to honor breast cancer survivors and support breast health awareness. A percentage of the ticket sales for that night were designated for the cause. IMG_6516

The Tigers were playing the Kansas City Royals and Justin Verlander was on the pitching mound for the Tigers who ended up winning the game 6-3.temperature at ball game

It was a freezing cold night and I took this photo of the temperature on the scoreboard at 9 o’clock as proof of the frigid air.  I had a blanket and was wearing 5 layers of clothing  thanks to the foresight of my sister-in-law Shirley and I was glad for every layer. at the tiger gameWe were at the game courtesy of Dave’s brother Bill and his wife Julie who gifted us with the tickets and Dave’s brother Paul and his wife Shirley who provided our ride to Comerica Park where the Tigers play.

1900 decade marker comerica parkAnd these mini museums throughout the stadium that recounted the history of the Detroit Tigers through every decade. 

Although the temperature was cold we a good time and even got to enjoy some of the fireworks as we walked to the bus that would take us back across the USA and Canadian border to our car.
